Overview

Bank connections are the foundation of Finn's financial insights. By securely connecting your bank accounts, credit cards, investment accounts, and other financial institutions, Finn can provide you with a complete picture of your financial situation and help you make informed decisions.

What Finn Can Access

  • Account Balances: Current balances across all connected accounts
  • Transaction History: Detailed records of your spending and income
  • Account Types: Checking, savings, credit cards, loans, investments
  • Institution Information: Bank names, account numbers (masked), and account types

What Finn Cannot Access

  • Account Credentials: Your usernames and passwords are never stored
  • Personal Information: Social Security numbers, addresses, or other sensitive data
  • Transaction Initiation: Finn cannot move money or make transactions on your behalf
  • Account Changes: Finn cannot modify your account settings or preferences

  • Store Cards: Most major retail and department store credit cards
  • Business Cards: Corporate and business credit card accounts

Investment Accounts

  • Brokerage Firms: Fidelity, Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade, E*TRADE
  • Retirement Accounts: 401(k), IRA, Roth IRA accounts
  • Robo-Advisors: Betterment, Wealthfront, Acorns

Other Financial Accounts

  • Loan Accounts: Mortgages, auto loans, personal loans, student loans
  • Insurance: Life insurance policies with cash value

Getting Started

Step 1: Add Your First Account

  1. Navigate to the "Accounts" section in your Finn dashboard
  2. Click "Connect Account" or "Add Bank"
  3. Search for your financial institution
  4. Select your bank from the list of supported institutions

Step 2: Authenticate Securely

  1. You'll be redirected to your bank's secure login page
  2. Enter your banking credentials directly with your bank (Finn never sees these)
  3. Authorize Finn to access your account data
  4. You'll be redirected back to Finn with your account connected

Step 3: Verify Connection

  1. Finn will fetch your account information and recent transactions
  2. Review the connected accounts in your dashboard
  3. Set up any additional accounts you want to track
  4. Begin receiving personalized financial insights

Adding Multiple Accounts

  • All Account Types: Connect checking, savings, credit cards, and investment accounts
  • Multiple Banks: Link accounts from different financial institutions
  • Joint Accounts: Include shared accounts with your partner or family members
